Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned China over Monday’s firing of missiles into the Pacific Ocean, describing it as an act that undermines regional stability.
The ministry accused China of disrupting regional peace and stability and of escalating tensions through coercive measures, military intimidation, and economic pressure.
According to the Taiwanese government, the missile launch demonstrates that China’s defence power is being used as a political tool that does not promote peace but instead heightens concerns about the state’s growing influence in the region.
It urged the Chinese government to act responsibly to prevent further actions that threaten regional security.
It added that maintaining peace within the Indo-Pacific is in the interest of the international community.
Taiwan also said that upholding peace across the region is a common international interest and that it will work with other nations to strengthen regional stability across the Taiwan Strait and in the Indo-Pacific.
