Two unnamed Nigerians have been convicted and sentenced to seven years in prison for an armed robbery in Mahboula in the southern district of Kuwait.
The duo were jailed by a court headed by Counsellor Nasr Salem Al-Haid on Monday.
The case filed by the public prosecution showed that the individuals were involved in stealing money and other items from a money exchange office.
The development came after the Kuwait General Department of Criminal Investigation in Ahmadi Governorate arrested the two individuals over alleged involvement in an armed robbery in January last year.
In a short video, one of the suspects was seen wearing a hooded top, exiting a white car before entering the exchange office.
After entering the office, the suspect was seen pointing a gun at the workers in the exchange office.
The police said the two individuals stole foreign currencies equivalent to 4,600 Kuwaiti Dinars, valued at approximately $14,918.69.
They were also accused of stealing licence plates to conceal the identities of the vehicles used for the operation.
This was not the first time Nigerians would be arrested and convicted of criminal offences in Kuwait.
