President Bola Tinubu has lauded Hausas, describing them as great pillars of unity in Nigeria.
Mr Tinubu stated this in a statement on Wednesday to congratulate Hausas on the occasion of Hausa Day.
“The Hausa people are great pillars that play a vital role in the unity and progress of Nigeria,” Mr Tinubu said. “The Hausa language, without doubt, has flourished and has become a major language of unity and commerce across the world.”
The president added, “I congratulate the vast Hausa community on the occasion of Hausa Day, which is being celebrated at the historic Daura Palace today.”
International Hausa Day is marked every August 26 to promote the culture and language of Hausas globally.
It was first marked in 2015, when it was initiated by Abdulbaki Aliyu Jari, a journalist formerly with the BBC Hausa service.
