United States President Donald Trump has launched five arcade-style video games promoting several of his second-term political agendas, two of which focus on his immigration and deportation policies.
The Trump administration unveiled and promoted the games in a series of posts on the White House’s official X account on Thursday, naming them Flappy Bill, Build the Wall, Rio Run, Supply Line, and Trump Savings Tycoon.
In Build the Wall, a Tetris knockoff, users can arrange bricks to imitate the highly publicised United States-Mexico border wall being built by Mr Trump along the territorial line from what the administration described as a “coming horde”.
Meanwhile, the Rio Run, a snake arcade game, is labelled the most controversial game, in which players can control Mr Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, as he moves along the Rio Grande while chasing migrants depicted in different skin tones.
The games have sparked criticism from the public as well as both sides of the political spectrum, with Democratic lawmaker Ted Lieu questioning the priorities of the Trump administration amid growing economic uncertainty in the United States.
“Average gas price across America has now risen to $4.14. What is @WhiteHouse focused on? See below. November is coming. (Also, why do the MAGA graphics below suck?)” the House of Representatives member said.
“Are we living in one of the deleted scenes in Idiocracy?” Republican House of Representatives member Thomas Massie commented on one of the announcement posts.
“This makes me sick. They’ve been playing games with people’s lives for years; now they’ve made a video game of what they’re doing,” Amerika Garcia Grewal, co-director of the Frontera Federation in Eagle Pass, Texas, said.
