The Forum of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of Federal Parastatals has appointed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, as its patron.
The forum also pledged to mobilise 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The decision was announced when a 20-member delegation of the forum paid a courtesy visit to Akume in Abuja.
A statement on the visit, signed by Biodun Ajiboye, chairman of the publicity committee, was made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja.
In the statement, the chairman of the forum, Kazeem Raji, said the appointment recognised Mr Akume’s leadership, experience and contributions to coordinating government institutions.
Mr Raji, who is also the director-general of the National Board for Technology Incubation, said the forum would support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election through lawful, peaceful and issue-based engagement.
He commended Mr Akume’s institutional stewardship, wisdom, experience and commitment to coordinating government machinery.
The forum chairman said the SGF’s efforts had contributed to the stability, coherence and effectiveness of the administration.
“We recognise the enormous responsibility you carry at the centre of government,” Raji said.
He added that the forum appreciated Akume’s diligence, discretion and statesmanship in supporting Mr Tinubu and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Mr Raji announced the forum’s determination to secure at least 10 million votes for Tinubu in his 2027 re-election bid.
Corroborating the chairman, Mr Ajiboye said the forum was willing to support MrTinubu, whom he described as their principal.
He said the CEOs remained the executors and implementers of government policies and therefore constituted the administration’s “real work engine”.
The publicity committee chairman disclosed that the forum had outlined its political engagement objectives ahead of the 2027 presidential election during the visit.
He said the forum would support Mr Tinubu’s re-election through lawful, ethical, peaceful and issue-based campaigns and dialogue with citizens.
Mr Ajiboye said the forum’s engagements would include communicating government policies, programmes and achievements while providing channels for citizens’ concerns and feedback.
Responding, Mr Akume expressed appreciation for the honour, describing it as both a privilege and a call to greater service.
Mr Akume, represented by the permanent secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Augusta Warrens, pledged continued support for stronger inter-agency cooperation.
He also promised the necessary support from the Office of the SGF to enhance the efficiency of public institutions.
Mr Akume commended the forum for promoting the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda across their respective domains.
He, however, urged members to do more in communicating government achievements and addressing what he described as disinformation.
