Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has stated that traffic congestion in the state is not a problem but a lifestyle that must be celebrated for boosting content creation and the creative industry.
In a video shared by News Central on Saturday, Mr Hamzat also noted that traffic gridlock boosts content consumption by Lagos residents.
“Not long ago, the story of Lagos was often told by other people; it was told in headlines about traffic, crowds and chaos. Some of those stories are not entirely wrong”, the Lagos governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for 2027 elections stated this at PODFEST Naija on Friday.
According to him, stranded commuters and motorists listen to music, watch podcasts and movies, especially on the ever-busy Ojota-to-Obalende corridor and the Third Mainland Bridge.
“Anyone who has crossed Third Mainland Bridge at 6:00 p.m. knows that Lagos traffic is not a problem; it’s just a lifestyle.
“I suspect that many of us in this room produce things that are consumed episode by episode between Ojota and Obalende. In a way, traffic has been the patron of your industry. So, you must celebrate traffic, that’s why we’re Lagos.”
