A Canada air ambulance carrying six crew members that departed Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport on Saturday to Boston Logan International Airport has gone missing.
A search for the Latitude Air Ambulance, a Gulfstream G100 (registration C-GRJP), belonging to an Ontario-based company, and its crew members, had been underway since Saturday.
In a statement on Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard said it “is continuing to search for six people aboard a missing medical transport aircraft.”
The U.S. Coast Guard said its search crews “located a debris field confirmed to be from the aircraft off the coast of Nantucket. There were six people aboard the aircraft, including four Canadian nationals and two Bermudian nationals.”
It added that next of kin of crew members on the air ambulance had been notified of the incident.
The U.S. Coast Guard Northeast district commander,
Rear Admiral Matthew Lake, in a press conference on Sunday, said his team would continue search and rescue efforts with “great professionalism.”
“Our thoughts go out with the members on the aircraft, as well as their families and friends,” Mr Lake said, describing the rescue efforts as “large and demanding search area.”
He added, “Our priority is to locate the six persons on that aircraft.”
