The Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Alumni Association has called for more private sector investments in the nation’s education sector.

The National President of the Association, Dr Sani Ibrahim – Khalil, made the call while addressing newsmen after the Association’s National Executive Council Forum held in Abuja.

Khalil, who described education as the bedrock of development, said a lot still needed to be done towards developing the country’s education.

According to him, for Nigeria to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs 4, adequate attention must be given to education at all levels.

He said the country should do everything possible to meet UNESCO’s required standard of budgetary allocation to education towards enhancing the rapid socio-economic development of Nigeria.

The National President of ABU Alumni Association, therefore, called for more public-private sector collaborations in the development of education in the country.

Khalil stated that the association had mapped out various intervention projects in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria as part of its contributions to the development of the Institution.

He identified Post Graduate hostel accommodation, Secretariat and other educational facilities as some of the intervention projects being embarked upon by the association in the university.

He stressed the need for Alumni of various universities and institutions of learning to always complement the efforts of governments towards repositioning the nation’s education sector in meeting international best practices.

Khalil equally emphasized the need for more sponsors and funding of research works to enhance technological breakthroughs in Nigeria.
