“Liverpool are fighting for the title; that’s the difference. We’re fighting for nothing.”

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has spoken after the club’s 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

He apologised to the fans whilst also questioning the club’s motivation at this point in the season.

According to Fernandes, Liverpool are still firmly in the Premier League crown race while Manchester United are “fighting for nothing.”

The Old Trafford outfit are now long-shots for next season’s UEFA Champions League qualification places, with Arsenal and Tottenham seemingly better placed and having games in hand.

Whilst speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Fernandes said, “I apologise to the fans. It will never be enough, but it’s all we can do. They deserve much more from us. I think everyone gave 100 per cent and put the effort in, but we did not play well.”

Fernandes added, “Liverpool are fighting for the title; that’s the difference. We’re fighting for nothing. We have to look inside and try to understand what is going wrong.”

Similar comments were made when Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 5-0 at Old Trafford in the first half of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since left his position as the team’s manager, but United continues to struggle as the season draws to a close.
