DUBAI, 2nd June, 2022 (WAM) — Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital has unveiled a new children’s play area named ‘Ladybird Garden’, which aims to provide young visitors and the People of Determination with a healthy, safe, and supportive environment conducive to their development.

The Ladybird Garden is sponsored by DP World and is a part of its Community Engagement Strategy.

The Ladybird Garden has a wide range of facilities to keep children entertained, including a toddlers’ area, older children’s zone, a designated section for children of determination, as well as fun features such as slides and a hide and seek area. Situated over three storeys, the new facility ensures that children look forward to visiting the doctors.

Abdulla bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director, DP World UAE and Jafza, said, “Having a designated recreation area within the hospital is essential for a child’s physical and emotional wellbeing. It is of paramount importance that children feel warm, safe, and secure in the hospital’s environment. This area is a tool to achieve this objective. Our collaboration with Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital for the Ladybird Garden reflects the values that we stand for in terms of giving back to the community by working for the community.”

Dr. Abdulla Ibrahim Al Khayat, Chief Executive Officer, Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, said, “We understand that hospital visits may be stressful for both children and parents, so with the aim of providing the best healthcare and facilities to help patients unwind and enhance the speed of their recovery, we developed the Ladybird Garden.”

“Play areas are essential for improving the wellbeing of children and reducing anxiety, fear and stress associated with hospitalisation. This can influence the way in which a child’s brain develops by helping in the coordination of their mental and physical talents,” Dr. Al Khayat added.
