The Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday appointed Uche Ekwunife, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, as the director-general of its campaign for the Anambra governorship election.

The Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa disclosed this while addressing journalists in Abuja after the party’s leadership meeting held at the Abuja residence of the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus.

Mr Fintiri stated that the party reached the decision at the meeting held with governors, the National Working Committee members, and aspirants who participated in the election.

“We carried out the directives of our governors and reconciled all the aggrieved aspirants, and it was unanimously agreed that Ekwunife be appointed the campaign director, and she is so appointed,” the governor explained. “With her appointment, the campaigns for PDP recapturing Anambra will soon kick off. All aspirants have been reconciled.”

According to him, Anambra belongs to the PDP, “and this will be confirmed” at the November 6 governorship election.

Mr Secondus hoped the PDP would win the state election, urging aspirants to forget the past and unite in the party’s interest.

Accepting the appointment, Ms Ekwunife pledged her readiness to work together with all stakeholders to attain victory for the PDP.

She also promised to leverage her political network in the campaign for the party to win the election.

The PDP governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, said that the PDP was set to take over Anambra following the reconciliation.

Mr Ozigbo added that with two senators and all members of the State House of Assembly produced by PDP, the party would reclaim Anambra.
