A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abubakar Abdullahi, has explained the rationale behind the gale of defection rocking the opposition parties in Nigeria.
Abdullahi, in an interview, said defections can never be avoided or stopped completely among Nigerian politicians.
He said some members of the opposition who are leaving their party to join the ruling party, APC, are also doing so to avoid arrest.
According to the APC chieftain, most defectors have one corrupt case or the other on them, and they are hiding from facing justice.
“Once they got elected or appointed, they indulged in all sorts of unruly behaviours which led them to commit a lot of atrocities,” he said.
“Most of them will be running helter-skelter, looking for where to hide,” Abdullahi said.
