“When people have no jobs, when businesses close down, when farmers can’t access their lands, crime will thrive, from baby factories to land grabbing,” said Mr Ukachukwu.

The All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, has linked the increasing number of baby factories and illegal adoptions in Anambra to insecurity and the negligence of Governor Charles Soludo.

Asked about his assessment of the growing prevalence of baby factories and illegal adoptions in the South-East state by TVC, Mr Ukachukwu said, “Honestly, let me tell you this, I see things on national television, nobody has more factories in Anambra state than myself and my family.

“On that note, I can’t remember, in recent times, saying there are many new industries springing up in Anambra state. In fact, insecurity has killed many factories. As a matter of fact, my own factory is under lock and key because they kidnapped six of my expatriates. I used to have about seventy-something of them working for me.”

The APC governorship flag-bearer added, “The place is under lock and key. An aluminum company was supposed to bring production streams to us, but we haven’t been able to continue. We locked it down because we couldn’t operate.”

Decrying the spate of insecurity in Anambra, the APC politician stated that the state government’s inadequate efforts have notably led to the closure of certain businesses.

Mr Ukachukwu accused the Charles Soludo administration of failing to provide a safe environment where businesses can thrive and criminal activities can be brought under control.

He stated, “The governor has not given the police, army, or DSS even ten vehicles in more than three years. How do you expect them to fight crime when other states are equipping their forces?

“This situation breeds hopelessness. When people have no jobs, when businesses close down, when farmers can’t access their lands, crime will thrive, from baby factories to land grabbing.”

Mr Soludo, during a campaign rally, derided the APC candidate.

“Who advised him to go on TV last night? His enemies are many. They continue to encourage him to go to TV,” Mr Soludo stated.
