Mr Kaigama spoke in his homily at the Our Lady Help of Christians, Dagba on Sunday queried the government on measures to combat insecurity.

The Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, Ignatius Kaigama, has decried the recent bandits’ attacks in Kaduna, calling for fervent prayers to restore peace in communities.

Mr Kaigama spoke in his homily at the Our Lady Help of Christians, Dagba on Sunday in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) queried the government on measures to combat insecurity.

“Enough of this violence and bloodshed. How much more can this and similar atrocities in parts of Nigeria take place before decisive actions are taken by the authorities concerned,” he stated.

Mr Kaigama was reacting to a recent attack on the Kagoro community where bandits killed over 30 people and razed several shops and homes.

He maintained that wars never end conflicts; instead, they destroy the very lives, dignity and freedom of human beings they claim to defend.

“Having prayed fervently for Ukraine, let us pray for Southern Kaduna and those areas in Nigeria, where killings, kidnappings, banditry and others seem to have become normal phenomena,” he said.

He noted that when these killings end, Christians could truly rejoice, not only today but always.
