Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has berated Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for using the church pulpit to launch political attacks.

In a statement shared via his Facebook handle on Sunday, Ibe accused Wike of desecrating the altar by turning it into “a political soapbox” instead of a place of worship.

“The land-grabbing, 40-year-old whiskey-guzzling minister of the FCT staggered into church today — not to seek forgiveness but to turn the altar of the Most High into a political soapbox,” he wrote.

Ibe said while there is nothing wrong with attending church, noting that he was also in church for Thanksgiving, it was “utterly abominable” to bring partisan bile to the altar.

His words: “It is written: ‘Take these things away! Stop making My Father’s house a place of commerce!’ (John 2:16 AMP).

“But in Wike’s hands, the house of God became a theatre of lies, vengeance, and drunken arrogance.”

He accused Wike of abusing his office by allocating prime Abuja lands to his children in what he described as a “feudal monarchy masquerading as public service”.

Ibe said Wike initially denied the allocations, but when confronted with leaked documents, he allegedly ordered the arrest of an FCDA official suspected of leaking the files.

Ibe also accused Wike of hypocrisy, claiming the minister had in the past begged Atiku and his allies for the vice-presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 election.

“Has Wike forgotten so soon how he came to Atiku Abubakar with Makinde and others to beg to be handed the vice-presidential ticket in 2023?” he asked.

He described Wike as someone suffering from “selective amnesia” due to his fondness for whiskey, saying Atiku defeated him twice — during the PDP presidential primaries in 2019 and 2023 — and would do so again.

“If he still thirsts for humiliation, he should prepare for a third and final defeat — this time, right at his doorstep in Obio-Akpor.

“God is not mocked. The altar is not a podium for propaganda. And the day of reckoning is not far off,” he said.
