The Emir of Daura, Faruq Umar-Faruq, has attributed the surge in insecurity across the country to poor upbringing, among other factors.

He stated this on Thursday while receiving the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps commandant, Aminu Datti, on a courtesy visit to his palace.

The Daura emir stressed the importance of security in the state and the country, urging collective efforts to tackle the growing insecurity.

He also called on the commandant to adopt more strategies, demonstrate greater commitment, and enhance synergy in addressing the security challenges in the state.

Welcoming the commandant to Katsina, the emir wished him a pleasant stay and prayed for divine guidance and blessings in his new role.

Earlier, Mr Datti acknowledged his familiarity with the emir’s palace but stated that his visit was to formally introduce himself as the new NSCDC Commandant in the state.

He added that the visit aimed to pay homage, seek guidance, and receive royal blessings and support to succeed in his position.

The commandant highlighted the significance of traditional institutions in maintaining law and order, stressing the need to strengthen their existing relationship for improved security.

Mr Datti pledged to collaborate with the Emirate in fulfilling NSCDC’s mandate and reaffirmed his commitment to repositioning the crime agency for better performance.

He assured that the command remains open to advice, guidance, and suggestions from the royal father and traditional council to enhance its service to the people.
