Armed bandits have stormed Isapa community in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, kidnapping 11 eleven residents, including a pregnant woman.

The attack came barely 48 hours after the rescue of 38 worshippers abducted from the Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in the same local government.

Multiple reports said the armed bandits stormed the village in large numbers around 6 p.m. on Monday, shooting indiscriminately and raided  the settlement with sophisticated weapons.

The abducted persons include two nursing mothers, a pregnant woman and several other young children.

The latest attack came one week after armed bandits invaded the CAC in Eruku, killing two worshippers and abducting 38 others. The victims were later released on Sunday following coordinated operations by the military, police and State Security Service, according to President Bola Tinubu and the Kwara State Government.

A spokesperson for the police, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, did not reply to Peoples Gazette’s calls and messages seeking a comment on the latest attack.

Meanwhile, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday announced a cabinet-level security committee to midwife alternative short-to-long term solutions to curtail further security breaches in the state.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, said the committee was expected to facilitate exclusive engagements with different stakeholders, including traditional rulers, to design a Kwara State-specific security strategy to strengthen public safety.

“The committee will submit its report to the governor within four weeks for further considerations and actions. Its recommendations are to further enrich existing understanding of the nationwide security situations from local perspectives,” the statement said.
