WASHINGTON D.C.: The White House has said that during a conversation held last week, US President Joe Biden accepted an invitation for a state visit to the UK by King Charles.

During the conversation, Biden informed King Charles that as US presidents traditionally do not attend coronations of British monarchs, first lady Jill Biden would instead represent the US at the coronation in May.

“The president was appreciative of the offer by the King and looks forward to that state visit,” White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.

However, she said there was no timeline for when the visit would take place, though it would be “in the near future.”
