Borno government has given 6,000 bicycles to students in rural areas to encourage them to be punctual in school.

Commissioner for Education, Abba Wakilbe, disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Government Technical Secondary School, Wuyo in Bayo LGA.

Mr Wakilbe said the inaugurated school received 300 bicycles for students from neighbouring villages attending the school.

Mr Wakilbe also announced the provision of 231,000 textbooks for schools across the state.

The commissioner disclosed that within two years of Governor Babagana Zulum’s administration, 21 mega schools, including four technical schools, have been constructed across the state.

Mr Zulum directed that necessary equipment should be provided for laboratories and workshops for the technical school to meet the standard.

He also directed that enough and qualified teachers should be employed in the school.

The chairman of Bayo LGA, Mohammad Biryel, lauded the siting of the technical school in the area, noting that it will address illiteracy and help youths with the necessary training to be self-reliant.
