President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tasked the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership with securing victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State, urging them to “bring Anambra to the centre.”

This charge was revealed by the APC governorship candidate in the state, Nicholas Ukachukwu, after he was officially presented with the party’s flag by President Tinubu during a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Ukachukwu described the event as a turning point for the party in Anambra, stating that Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the APC’s growing momentum in the state and directed the party to consolidate its gains and win the election.

“He gave us the charge to bring Anambra to the centre. He was happy with how ready we are. Now it’s time to deliver,” Ukachukwu said.

The businessman-turned-politician recently defected from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the APC, bringing along a significant number of supporters and political allies.

He said his move, alongside that of his former deputy and other APGA leaders, has positioned the APC as the dominant force in the state.

His words: “I ran on a joint ticket with the current governor. I was a former APGA senatorial candidate.

“Now we’ve all joined APC — myself, my deputy, and other leaders across the zones. It means nothing is left of APGA in the state.”

He further stated that the APC is experiencing a wave of support from across political divides, with over 80 support groups, as well as stakeholders from Labour Party, YPP, and even APGA, aligning with the party in a united effort to unseat the incumbent.

“We’ve seen it happen in Zamfara, in Imo — incumbents have lost before, even in Anambra. Now the real leaders are with APC,” he added.

Addressing concerns about internal party unity following the primaries, Ukachukwu said the APC’s National Working Committee, led by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has successfully reconciled nearly all aggrieved factions.

He said: “The APC in Anambra is now united, cohesive, and fully mobilized for victory.

“We have strong structures across all three senatorial zones. Our focus now is total mobilization. We are ready to bring home victory for APC.”
