President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed as the new Director General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The new DG appointment was announced via a statement on Thursday.

The appointment will see Mr Dogara taking over the position from interim head Christy Uba.

Mrs Uba was appointed as the overseer of the position in November 2022 following the sacking of Brigadier-General Muhammad Fadah by President Buhari over corruption allegations.

Mr Fadah was also accused of nepotism and religious bias.

In September 2022, a letter on behalf of the governing board of NYSC by its chairman, Fatima Abubakar, addressed to the Youths and Sports Development minister listed some controversial issues against the former DG.
