In addition to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo being appointed as a poverty committee chairman, President Muhammadu Buhari has put him in charge of a health sector reform committee.
The committee will collaborate with state governments and the FCT administration.
Mr Buhari’s media aide Garba Shehu confirmed this development in a statement on Monday.
The committee’s approval followed a ‘Health Sector Diagnostic Review Report’, developed by a consultant, Vesta Healthcare Partners and the Federal Ministry of Health.
He said the committee would undertake a review of healthcare reforms adopted in the past two decades and lessons learnt and factor them into developing the new health sector reform programme.
He added that the committee, set up for six months, had members drawn from the private and public sector, healthcare management professionals, development partners, representatives from the National Assembly, and the Nigeria Governors Forum.
Meanwhile, Mr Buhari had also approved Ifedayo Morayo Adetifa as the new director-general of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
“The president also named him a member of this important committee,’’ said Mr Shehu.
