Mr Osinbajo spoke on Saturday night at the APC convention, held at the Eagles Square, Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said that since 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime has embarked on the most significant investments in infrastructure and agriculture in Nigeria’s history.

Mr Osinbajo, who spoke on Saturday night at the APC convention, held at the Eagles Square, Abuja, said the regime has performed excellently despite insecurity and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Despite the challenges, including insurgency and the COVID-19 pandemic that affected global economies, the Buhari-led administration, in the past eight years, has made great strides in ensuring national development,” he was quoted as saying in a statement by his media aide, Laolu Akande.

The vice president said that although the ruling party, government, and citizens have been through challenges, the Buhari-led administration’s efforts to revamp the economy, enhance security, and fight against corruption remained firm.

“We cannot deny the difficulties we, as a party, and the government, and indeed, our people, have been through, but the Federal Government and the people will continue to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

“We have had to tackle terrorist activities, insurgency and security challenges in parts of the country.”

Mr Osinbajo reiterated that the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, social investments, and the private sector’s contributions to national development stood out.

He, however, said that the APC must not lose its focus in taking millions of Nigerians out of poverty.

“We must focus on the objective of taking 100 million out of poverty in this decade, as promised by this government under the leadership of President Buhari.

“We will not relent; we will not look back, and we will not falter, and by the grace of God, this party, our party, the APC will lead Nigeria and its great peoples to its manifest destiny in the coming decades.

“Our eyes must remain fixed on three things: one – jobs; two – jobs and three- jobs.”

He further urged leaders of the party to remain resolute, committed and focused on the vision of the president to deliver on the economy, security for all, and the fight against corruption in the coming months and years.
