BEIJING, China – China on Wednesday expressed its strong condemnation and demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged terrorist attack at the University of Karachi, in which three Chinese nationals were killed and one was injured.

According to a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the Pakistani side should conduct an immediate investigation into the incident, “apprehend and punish the perpetrators to the full extent of the law,” and “take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan and prevent such incidents from occurring again.”

According to the spokesperson, the Chinese foreign ministry and diplomatic missions in Pakistan activated the emergency response mechanism immediately after the incident.

PM Shahbaz visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, conveyed condolences, and stated that his government would never allow any force to undermine the friendship between Pakistan and China. Sindh and Karachi authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to find the perpetrators.
