Prosecution counsel, Kehinde Ajayi, said the defendant committed the offence on June 22 at Lead College, Satellite Town, Lagos.

Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos has ordered that a 16-year-old student be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The defendant, who resides in Satellite Town, Lagos State, was charged with defilement.

Magistrate Ejiro Kubeinje, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered that he should be remanded at the Oregun Juvenile Corrective Home, Ikeja, Lagos.

Ms Kubeinje directed the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until August 18 for a mention.

Prosecution counsel, Kehinde Ajayi, said the defendant committed the offence on June 22 at Lead College, Satellite Town, Lagos.

Mr Ajayi alleged that the defendant defiled the victim without her consent.

He said the offence contravened section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Section 137 states that anyone who unlawfully has sexual intercourse with a child is liable to life imprisonment.
