Davido donates N300 million to 427 orphanages
Nigerian singer Davido on Tuesday promised to donate N300 million naira to orphanages nationwide.
The singer announced on X that he would donate funds through his foundation to contribute to the nation. He also mentioned that disbursement details will be shared.
On Friday, the “Unavailable” crooner said on his Instagram page that his foundation had allocated the funds to 427 eligible orphanages and each child will receive N19,733.
Davido has been making philanthropic gestures by donating millions of naira to orphanages in Nigeria through his foundation, David Adeleke Foundation (DAF). To mark his 29th birthday, he encouraged his friends and well-meaning individuals to donate N1 million each to support orphanages. He raised N200 million and added another N50 million to support orphanages.
Court denies Davido’s request to halt N2 billion lawsuit by ex-NFF president
Davido’s request to stop all legal proceedings filed against him by the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has been denied by the Delta State High Court.
Pinnick initiated a N2 billion lawsuit against Davido in November 2023 for failing to appear at the “Warri Again” concert.
In November 2023, the court was informed by Brownhill Investments Company Limited, owned by the former NFF president, that Davido was scheduled to perform at their event. However, he did not keep to the agreement and chose to perform at a different event in Australia on the same day.
The claimant is seeking N2 billion in damages from Davido and his music company, Davido Music Worldwide Limited, and Davido’s legal team filed for a stay of proceedings.
However, the motion for a stay of proceedings was withdrawn, citing a pending appeal. Davido’s lawyers also challenged the court’s jurisdiction, but the court disagreed with their argument.

American R&B singer Usher has disclosed that he partnered with Nigerian artistes Burna Boy and Pheelz in his latest album. The reason behind this collaboration was his desire to be a part of the Afrobeats that has swept across the music industry.
Usher has joined the list of Western artistes embracing Afrobeats by featuring Pheelz in “Ruin” and Burna Boy in the title track “Homecoming” on his new album. In a recent interview with Apple Music, Usher credited Pheelz for bringing him and Burna Boy together for the project.
He said, “I am all about collaboration and bringing African, you know, Nigerian culture to my own world. Their music is really popular now. I wanted to be part of it [Afrobeats]; that’s why I went to Africa to make this album.
“I picked up things when I was in Ghana. I picked up things when I was in Nigeria. And working with Pheelz, he created the record [‘Homecoming’]. I just felt that Burna Boy would take it to a different level of credibility. I really do enjoy him as an artist. I just felt that this song would only be lifted better if he was part of it.”
Afua Asantewaa’s sing-a-thon declared unsuccessful by Guinness World Records
Guinness World Records announced that Afua Asantewaa’s attempt to break the world record for the longest singing marathon was unsuccessful.
Despite a five-day singing marathon, Asantewaa fell short of the required criteria for the longest singing marathon.
The official statement from Guinness World Records read, “Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts.”
Asantewaa was believed to have sung for five days, six hours, and 55 minutes.l
