“Ebonyi is a PDP state. The battle may look so fierce, but PDP is the winning party.”

Supporters of Ifeanyi Odii, the PDP candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election in Ebonyi, have hailed the Supreme Court judgment affirming him as the authentic standard-bearer.

In a unanimous decision, the court on Wednesday in Abuja upheld the Ebonyi PDP governorship primary election of May 28 and 29, won by Mr Odili. The court nullified the appeal filed by Obinna Ogba, representing Ebonyi Central senatorial zone, challenging Mr Odili’s victory.

Mr Odili’s supporters described the judgment as a welcome development for Ebonyi

Amuche Okoh, a supporter, said the judgment was for the good people of Ebonyi and the development of democracy in the country.

“Anyichuks has laid solid foundations in various human endeavours, especially in the areas of economic development and human empowerment, among others,” said Mr Okoh.

Another supporter, Sunday Nwankwo, stated, “This is the man that Ebonyi people need as Governor, and I thank God that it has come to stand. Congratulations to him and the state.”

Chika Nwoba, the PDP spokesman in Ebonyi, explained that the victory was not only for the PDP but also for the people of the state.

Mr Odii called on all the party’s faithful in the state to unite to win in Ebonyi.

“I will be reaching out to every party leader, my fellow party faithful, on how we will win the 2023 election,” he said.

Mr Odii, who said the issue of factional crisis in the party had finally been put to rest, said it was time members went back to the drawing board on moving the party forward.

”I have always hoped that it is the only place to reclaim my mandate,” he added. “Ebonyi is a PDP state. The battle may look so fierce, but PDP is the winning party.”
