Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended 25 commissioners, 22 permanent secretaries, and 38 other aides for a period of one month due to absenteeism at a key government event.

The suspension was announced in a statement on Monday night by the governor’s chief press secretary, Monday Uzor.

Among the suspended commissioners are Stanley Mbam (works), Leonard Uguru (finance), Mathew Nwobashi (lands and survey), Victor Chukwu (environment), and Ikeuwa Omebe (information).

The suspended permanent secretaries include Lawrence Ezeogo, Isioma Arunne-Inyang, Rose Ibe, Ogechi Nwobashi, Theresa Anwu, and Lynda Alo.

Fourteen senior special assistants were suspended, including Bessy Chukwu, Rose Ofoke, Kieran Ofoke, and Anthony Nwegede.

The 24 suspended special assistants include Emmanuel Mbam, Tobias Ogbonna, Easy Okike-Uzor, Obinna Oko-Enyim, Chima Okoro, Amaechi Nwali, Henry Nwele, Isaac Ogodo-Ali, and Godwin Nwoba.

The governor stated that the suspension took effect immediately and applied to all listed officials in the statement without exception.

However, the statement did not mention handover arrangements.
