Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, on Sunday said the anti-graft agency arrested hundreds of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, in the last two months.
He stated that if the suspects were not in their houses, the commission could arrest them in hotels or apartments or wherever they may be hiding.
In an interview with Channels TV on Sunday night, Mr Olukoyede said, “In the last two months, we have carried out hundreds of arrests of yahoo boys on sting operations.
“Some of these guys can’t be seen in broad daylight; you have to plan your operations very professionally. Some you don’t find in their houses; you find them in hotels and apartments.”
The anti-graft csar said Nigerians should know that officials of the anti-graft agency have the power to arrest without warrant or break a door to effect an arrest.
“We have the power to effect arrest without warrant. The badge I carry is my warrant to effect an arrest anytime anyday. If I have to break down a door to effect arrest, I will do that. You see FBI, NCA do that, why is our own different?,” Mr Olukoyede said.
