The Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA) and Enugu State Ease of Doing Business Council’s Secretariat Teams led by the General Manager/ Chief Executive Officer of Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA) and the Reform Champion/Focal Person and Secretary to the Enugu State Ease of Doing Business Council (ES-EoDBC); Hon Chibuzor Okafor visited the University of Nigeria Nsukka for a meeting with the University’s Management Team on strategic partnership and collaboration in the areas of research and economic studies in key sectorial drivers of the economy.

The meeting which took place on Tuesday, 10th of August, 2021 was initiated by the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA) and the Reform Champion/Focal Person and Secretary to the Enugu State Ease of Doing Business Council, Hon Chibuzor Okafor, through Prof. Emma Ezeani, Managing Director of University of Nigeria Consultancy Services Limited (UNN Consult).

UNN Consult is the Consultancy, Research and Development arm of the University specializing in the areas of Agriculture, Environment, Health, Economic Development, Sustainable Development, Banking and Finance, Oil and Gas, Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), etc.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Charles Arinzechukwu Igwe, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Patrick Okpoko, received the delegation in his office alongside the Director of UNN Consult, Prof. Emma Ezeani, the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor, Mr. Lazarus and Head of Economics Department, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Dr Emma Nwosu.

The General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of Enugu State Investment Development Authority (ESIDA) and Reform Champion/Focal Person and Secretary to the Enugu State Ease of Doing Business Council (ES-EoDBC), Hon. Chibuzor Okafor, introduced members of his team and thanked the Vice Chancellor for granting his request for an appointment to meet with him and his team to discuss partnerships and collaborations, especially in the areas of economic studies and research. He pointed out that the request was born out of the need to get affiliated to a research institute that will assist in the collation of relevant data and information needed in the execution of his organizations’ mandates.

He equally stressed that investors need to be presented with accurate data, information and facts before investing their capital in any environment as capital is “intelligent” and invested where profit would be fully maximized. He further stated that there is insufficient data and information in virtually all key sectors of South East regional economy, making investment decisions difficult in the South East of Nigeria. He also emphasized the need for us to generate our own reliable studies and data, so we can control the data narrative.

Hon. Chibuzor Okafor equally expressed his organizations desire to work with the University of Nigeria Nsukka in the performance of economic studies, in sectors that will drive economic growth in Enugu State and the South East region.
