MOSCOW, Russia: A Russian film crew has returned to Earth from the International Space Station after spending two weeks filming the first movie shot in space.

Russian space agency Roscosmos said the Soyuz MS-18 space capsule carrying actor Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko safely landed in western Kazakhstan.

After landing, Peresild, best known for her role in the 2015 film “Battle for Sevastopol,” told local media, “I am in a bit of a sad mood today, because it had seemed that 12 days was such a long period of time, but when it was all over, I did not want to bid farewell.”

Footage captured by Russian state TV showed the capsule parachuting down to a remote area on the Kazakh steppe.

The BBC reported the landing was also captured for a movie, with a working title, “Challenge.”

The space mission coincided with the journey of Star Trek actor William Shatner, 90, who flew into space aboard a Blue Origins’ rocket owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos.
