SANAA, Yemen / ISTANBUL

Fresh US-UK airstrikes targeted the city of Saada in northern Yemen, the Houthis announced on Saturday, as US President Donald Trump ordered “decisive” action against the group.

The strikes were reported by Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah TV and SABA news agency.

Saada is considered the main stronghold of the Houthi group and shares a land border with Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, the group said at least nine civilians were killed and nine injured in strikes in the capital Sanaa.

“Your time is up, and your attacks must stop, starting today. If they don’t, hell will rain down upon you like nothing you have ever seen before,” Trump said.

In solidarity with Gaza, Houthis had attacked Israeli-linked ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since late 2023, disrupting global trade.

The group halted its attacks when the Gaza ceasefire was declared in January. But it threatened to resume the attacks when Israel blocked all aid into Gaza on March 2.
