An accident involving a passenger bus and a private car along Bauchi-Darazo road has claimed 14 lives while five persons were seriously injured.

The Bauchi Federal Road Safety Corps Sector Commander Yusuf Abdullahi confirmed the death toll. He said the crash involved a commercial Golf Wagon and a Chevrolet with registration number 15B-07 BA.

Nineteen persons, 10 female adults, seven males, one female child and one male child were involved in the accident.

The Road Safety boss said the cause of the crash was speed limit violation by both drivers.

Items recovered from the crash site include N73,000 cash, seven mobile phones, one power bank and four small handbags.

The injured victims have been taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at the morgue, Mr Abdullahi said.
