Governor Inuwa Yahaya says the Igbo community in Gombe has contributed immensely to the peace and economic prosperity of the state, telling them to vote for the All Progressives Congress in Saturdays’ governorship and state parliamentary elections.

Mr Yahaya, who stated this in Gombe when the Igbo community paid him a solidarity visit, commended the efforts of Igbos in contributing to the development of the state.

According to the governor, Igbos have proved successful in any businesses they engage in and help develop any society they live in.

“Your contribution to the peace and economic prosperity in Gombe need not be overemphasised. As it is said, anywhere you don’t see an Igbo man, leave that place and go somewhere else,” stated Mr Yahaya. “Your contributions here, after so many years, should not be taken for granted.”

While appreciating the Igbo community’s support in electing him in 2019, the governor urged them also to support his reelection bid. He said if reelected, he would work to ensure inclusive governance and protect the interests of all Gombe residents.

“Don’t make any mistakes. Shine your eyes and make your choice. Vote for All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe state,” the governor said.

On their requests for land to build a cultural centre, Mr Yahaya said, “We shall give the Igbo community a land to build their headquarters.”

The governor also gave a grant of N10 million to support small- and medium-sized enterprises run by Igbo women in the state.

Egwu Onuwabuchi, the president-general of the Igbo Community Welfare Association, commended Mr Yahaya for ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state.

The Igbo association leader pledged that Igbos would support the reelection bid of the Gombe governor while urging Mr Yahaya to consider his members in employment and other empowerment schemes of his government.
