The governor said a panel would be set up to conduct an inventory of government assets and recover those in the wrong hands.

Senator Ademola Adeleke, the newly sworn-in governor of Osun State, has reversed all the appointments made at the tail-end of the tenure of the immediate past governor Gboyega Oyetola.

Mr Adeleke also ordered that all government bank accounts be frozen immediately, adding that all actions taken by Mr Oyetola’s administration from July 7, 2022, would be revisited.

He also reversed the official name of the state from “State of Osun” to “Osun State” while reversing its appellation from “The State of the Virtues” to “The State of the Living Spring”.

Mr Adeleke was administered the oath of office on Sunday.

He was sworn in as the sixth elected governor of the state alongside his deputy, Kola Adewusi, at the Osogbo City Stadium in Osogbo.

Messrs Adeleke and Adewusi took over after they were both administered the oaths of allegiance and office by the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Adepele-Ojo.

Speaking shortly after taking the oath of office, Mr Adeleke said he was aware of the expectations from the residents of the state as his administration starts a new face of power.

“I am well aware of the fact that my responsibility as governor and chief security entails meeting the expectation of our people,” the new governor noted.

He added that he is prepared to serve to the people of Osun, stressing that his reforms would cut across education, security, healthcare, infrastructure, local government administration, judiciary and public service.

Mr Adeleke, who contested the governorship seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was seeking re-election.

He secured 403, 371 votes to defeat Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes in the July 16, 2022 governorship election

Among the dignitaries at Mr Adeleke’s inauguration were Governors Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Aminu Tambuwal of Kano, and Douye Diri of Bayelsa.

Others were PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, his wife Titi, PDP national chairman, Iyiorcha Ayu, and former Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Also, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, former Ekiti governor Ayodele Fayose, business mogul Tony Elumelu, and David Adeleke, aka Davido, among others, were present.
