Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the construction of “Sarki Muhammadu Bello mosque” in Koko, Koko Besse local government area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the mosque is expected to gulp about N220 million paid for by the state government.

Speaking at the foundation laying ceremony at Koko, Mr Bagudu said “We are here today Saturday, 29th of January, to lay the foundation for the construction of a new mosque in Koko, the Sarki Muhammadu Bello mosque.

“Government gave approval for the construction of the mosque, N220 million had already been released for the project, from the start to completion.”

Mr Bagudu who is also Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum told the crowd that the state government had also approved the construction of a new market, opposite the mosque, to boost trade and commerce in the area.

He added that N314 million was approved for the construction of the new market, and that siting it in another location was to decongest the area around the present market, and pave the way for smooth vehicular movement.
