Governor Abba Yusuf has urged Kano residents to welcome President Bola Tinubu with love and hospitality as Mr Tinubu pays a condolence visit to the state following the passing of industrialist and philanthropist Aminu Dantata.

In a statement on Thursday, Mr Yusuf described Mr Tinubu’s visit as a moment of solemn reflection and national honour for the state and the deceased.

“I urge all Kano residents to receive the President warmly and in an orderly manner as he joins us in mourning one of our greatest elder statesmen. This is a moment of solemn reflection and national respect,” the statement said.

The governor called on the residents to receive Mr Tinubu in an orderly manner, in line with the state’s respect for leaders, adding that security and logistics arrangements had been put in place.

Mr. Dantata, an uncle to business mogul Aliko Dangote, died on June 28 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He was buried in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

The deceased, a scion of the influential Dantata family, was widely respected for his pivotal contributions to commerce, Islamic scholarship, education, and humanitarian causes.

Mr Dantata played a pivotal role in expanding the family’s business empire, which was inherited from his father, Alhassan Dantata, one of West Africa’s wealthiest merchants in the early 20th century.
