Mr Malami said his decision was a “commendable posture worthy of admiration coming from a paragon of virtue.”

Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, says he deserves commendation for dumping his governorship ambition.

Mr Malami in a statement released by Umar Jubrilu, his spokesperson, said he has not resigned his position as the AGF, adding that his decision to withdraw from the guber race was a demonstration of altruism and patriotism.

“Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has not resigned,” the statement read.

“He withdrew his ambition to contest for the 2023 Kebbi State Gubernatorial Elections,” it added.

Mr Malami said his decision to dump his governorship ambition was a “commendable posture worthy of admiration coming from a paragon of virtue.”

Already, Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, had in a bid to save his political appointment dropped out of the 2023 presidency race.

A series of political appointees have sparked public outrage after they went against political norms to seek elective positions.

The development triggered Mr Buhari to mandate appointees seeking elective positions to resign.
