While Peter Obi is challenging the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the presidential election petitions tribunal, a Labour Party legislator Amobi Ogah says elected federal lawmakers are ready to work with Mr Tinubu’s government, praising the president as intelligent and prepared to lead the country.

“Today is my best day. Today, I’m so happy that I’m an elected member seeing my president (Mr Tinubu) talking. In fact, I’ve never known that this man is so intelligent,” Mr Ogah said. “I never knew that this man is so prepared to serve this country. I saw the love, character, and charisma — the belief that Nigeria can be a better nation.”

His Labour Party comrade and candidate in the February 25 presidential poll, Peter Obi, is contesting the legitimacy of Mr Tinubu’s victory at the tribunal, alleging that the newly sworn-in president rigged the election.

Mr Obi has not congratulated Mr Tinubu.

However, Mr Ogah insisted that his loyalty to Nigeria is above his political party’s, vowing to support Mr Tinubu.

“We have agreed that we are going towards government decision not minding I am of Labour Party. Now the party is not the issue. We are talking about building Nigeria. We are talking about the unity of Nigeria.”

Mr Ogah, who was elected to represent the Isuikwuato-Umunneochi federal constituency of Abia in the 10th assembly, disclosed this in an interview after members-elect of the national assembly met with Mr Tinubu at the presidential villa on Thursday.
