The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to ensure a smooth continuous voter registration (CRV) exercise in Plateau.
Mohammed Sadiq, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, said this during a training exercise organised for its personnel on Friday in Jos.
The exercise was being organised for electoral officers (EOs) and other officials across the 17 local government areas of the state.
INEC began the online registration for the CVR nationwide on August 18.
Mr Sadiq said the training is designed to equip and expose the participants to the innovations introduced by INEC towards a successful CVR exercise.
“As we all know, the CVR exercise commenced with the online registration on August 18. As from August 25, the physical biometric capturing will commence at our offices across the 17 LGAs of Plateau.
“So, the purpose of our meeting today is to train you, particularly the registration area officers and the EOs, on what is expected of you.
“I want to urge you to pay attention because this is an important national assignment,” he said.
The REC, which said that the exercise is free of charge, warned against extortion of prospective registrants.
He also tasked the personnel to give special attention to persons with disabilities, pregnant women, and lactating mothers during the exercise.
