ANKARA

Ivory Coast’s ambassador to Turkey on Wednesday invited Turkish investors to the West African nation.

“More and more companies are moving to Ivory Coast from Turkey to contribute to our economic development. We hope that there will be more Turkish investments in our country, especially in agriculture, industry, health infrastructure and energy,” Khadidjata Toure told Anadolu Agency.

Toure noted that between 2013 and 2021 bilateral trade volume increased to over $630 million from $200 million, adding that the figure should rise to billions.

“There are about 20 agreements signed between the two countries. For example, there are agreements that ensure mutual investments and abolish double taxation,” she added.

She went on to say that her government attaches great importance to technology transfer for economic development, stressing that the two are co-related.

“Turkey has proven technology in industrial agriculture. Ivory Coast wants to benefit from this,” she said, adding that contacts have been established between Ivory Coast and its Turkish partners.

Ivory Coast also wants to benefit from Turkish expertise in the field of defense and in the production of medical equipment, she added.

Expressing hope to strengthen relations in various fields, she invited Turkish business people to contribute to Ivory Coast’s industrialization.

She hailed Turkey’s progress in the small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector and invited Turkey to support her country in the development of SMEs.

She also said a high-level delegation from her country will attend the 3rd Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit in Turkey on Dec. 17-18.
