An Area Court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 22-year-old bus conductor, Mustapha Mohammed, to six months’ imprisonment for criminal intimidation.
The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Ms Pati, however, gave the convict an option of a N40,000 fine or six months’ imprisonment for criminal intimidation and trespass.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on September 9 by Sadi Suleiman at the ‘C’ Division Police Station in Jos.
According to him, the complainant said that the accused person trespassed into his compound with a pair of scissors and threatened to hurt him.
Mr Gokwat said that during the police investigation the suspect confessed to having committed the crime.
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
