The police in Kano have assured dealers in pharmaceutical products in Sabon Gari Market of adequate security during and after their relocation to the new Kano Economic City, Dangwauro, Kano.

The state government had directed all traders at the pharmaceutical section of the market to relocate to a new centre, to enable the authorities to monitor and regulate their activities in public interest.

The Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, however, gave the assurance via telephone with journalists in Kano on Sunday.

He said adequate security for seamless movement of their goods to the approved centre, located on Zaria Road, Kano, had been worked out for implementation.

He explained that the command had put in place security measures that would enable the traders to transport their goods in a peaceful atmosphere.

To that effect, he said, an operational order had already been given to the area commander and the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Fagge and Kumbosto local government areas of the state.

He said that the security measures put in place would prevent hoodlums from looting innocent traders’ shops during and after the exercise.

“We have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security in all the routes leading to the newly-established pharmaceutical market at Dangwauro in Kumbosto local government area.

“I am giving 100 per cent assurance to all law-abiding traders of the state to go about transporting their goods freely without threat to lives and property,” the commissioner said.

He said security personnel would be in all identified strategic locations to provide surveillance and physical security during and after the exercise.
