Kidnappers of the principal, vice principal, and three N-Power teachers of Auga Community Grammar School in Akoko Area of Ondo State have demanded N35 million ransom to release them.

The wife of the principal, Mrs Hellen Adeyemi, who confirmed this in a telephone call, said they had no capacity to raise the N35m.

The Principal, Joshua Adeyemi; his vice, Ifedayo Yesufu, and the N-Power teachers were abducted on Thursday afternoon while travelling in a Toyota Corolla car along Auga-Ise Road in Akoko East Local Government Area.

One of the abducted teachers, Mrs Blessing Okeke, who was pregnant, was later released.

The Divisional Police Officer for Ikare Division, SP Oladutoye Akinwande, disclosed that a search and rescue operation had begun while the car in which the victims were travelling before the abduction occurred had been recovered.

Meanwhile, some residents of Akoko particularly, the border towns of Ajowa, Isua, Akunu, Auga, Ikakumo, Igashi and Eriti have called on the government to beef up security in the areas due to the upsurge in crime rate as a result of the removal of military checkpoints from roads in the state.
