Katsina local council elections is billed for April 11.

Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission (KTSIEC) says it has engaged over 10,000 ad-hoc staff for the conduct of the April 11 local government elections in the state.

Ibrahim Bako, the KTSIEC chairman, disclosed this during the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive materials on Sunday in Katsina.

Mr Bako said all security arrangements have been put in place to make the exercise free, fair and credible.

He added that early distribution would enable the materials to reach the areas early so that the conduct of the elections would commence at the appropriate time.

The materials include ballot papers and result sheets, which were distributed in the presence of party agents in the 34 local government areas.

The state government has declared April 11 as work-free day for the electorates to come out en masse and participate in the local council’s elections.

Similarly, the Katsina State police also announced restriction of movement of persons and vehicles from 6:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m., on April 11.
