Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has warned his cabinet that the state’s revenue is drying up, urging them to be more prudent and not flamboyant.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has warned his cabinet that the state’s revenue is drying up, urging them to be more prudent and not flamboyant.

“Revenue is drying up. Yet, our administration is confronted with huge challenges of human capital and infrastructural development and an urgent need to lift as many people as possible out of poverty,” said the governor.

“Every penny is being channelled towards tackling this. The administration has a duty to chart a sustainable course for our state. That is why we cannot afford to be flamboyant or wasteful.”

He pointed out that his administration still had many grounds to cover, charging his commissioners to buckle down. The governor said this at the inauguration of three newly appointed commissioners on Wednesday in Ilorin.

Mr AbdulRazaq further explained that his administration had delivered basic amenities and lacking social infrastructure, adding that it is no time for full-blown politics.

“We must keep our eyes on the ball, which is service to the people of Kwara, who have entrusted us with their mandate,” the governor said.

The Kwara governor told the new commissioners that he wanted them to be prudent and disciplined.

“You are coming on board at a crucial time in the life of this administration and our state,” said Mr AbdulRazaq. “Kwara state is undergoing a rebuilding process. Prudence, discipline, teamwork, and sacrifice have been our watchwords.”
