The two Labour Party aspirants for Anambra governorship election, George Muoghalu and John Nwosu, have been screened and confirmed for the party’s primaries slated for April 5.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Obiora Ifoh, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja.

The screening committee, led by its chairman and deputy minority whip of the House of Representatives, Rep.George Ozodinobi, had, on Friday, screened the two governorship aspirants.

The committee later submitted the result to the leadership of the party.

Mr Ozodinobi praised the two aspirants for being true party members and also commended them for their track records and loyalty to the leadership of the party.

Mr Ozodinobi praised the two aspirants for being true party members and also commended them for their track records and loyalty to the leadership of the party.

He assured them of the party’s non-partisan approach toward its selection process and its commitment to ensuring that the best aspirant emerged.

“We will work according to the laid down rules and we want to assure you of highest level of transparency throughout the process of the selection.

“We will work to ensure that we approach the election as a united house, without rancour.

“It is going to be a brotherly contest where everyone in the party will join our flag-bearer in the onerous task of campaigning and winning the November governorship election for the salvation of Anambra,” the committee chairman said.

Mr Muoghalu, an administrator and business executive, was the pioneer national secretary of All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), former national auditor of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former managing director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

Mr Nwosu, on the other hand, is an IT expert and global business entrepreneur. He was also a director at the 2023 ObiDatti presidential campaign council.
