The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Lagos State says it would continue to appraise Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration and its policies to promote good governance in the state.

The council, in a statement on Saturday in Lagos by its newly elected chairperson, Temilola Akinade, and its new public relations officer, George  Ashiru, said it would keep the governor and members of his team on their toes at all times.

The council said that the team would continue to scrutinise state government policies within the ambit of law and democracy.

“We must collectively discharge our duties as an efficient advisory body to all political stakeholders to ensure a developed Nigeria in the best interest of all our people.

“We cannot afford to leave the fate of Nigeria and this state to the governments at the different levels.

“We have to play our advisory roles as IPAC members without fear or favour. We won’t cease appraising Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s policies.

“The overall interest of our country and our state should be paramount to us as the representatives of our parties and the people,” the council said.

IPAC, however, commended Mr Sanwo-Olu’s administration for encouraging the participation of women in politics and governance.

The body applauded the governor for his efforts in facilitating infrastructural development towards making Lagos a true centre of excellence.

The council advised the government to consolidate on its efforts and address the socio-economic problems confronting the people in the state.

According to them, particular attention must be given to policies capable of alleviating the sufferings  of the poor

The council saud that efforts would be geared towards repositioning IPAC in the state so that it could perform its statutory functions effectively, and in the best interest of the state and the people.

The Lagos State IPAC election was conducted on Tuesday at INEC media centre, Sabo-Yaba by the national ffficers of the council led by Martins Egbeola, national organising secretary and monitored by INEC officials.

Mr Akinade of National Rescue Movement (NRM), emerged the new IPAC chairman in a keenly-contested election by defeating the incumbent chairman, Olusegun Jaiyeola Mobolaji of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

With this feat, Mr Akinade becomes the first woman ever to be elected IPAC state chairman in the country.

She would lead the affairs of the state council for the next two years.

Other elected officers of the body include Dr Muhyideen Jokomba of APC (Deputy Chairman); Abiola Adeyemi of APP (Secretary); ThankGod Ibeh of APGA (Deputy secretary); and Bunmi Adeyemo Bunmi of APM (Financial secretary).

Others are: Mustapha Moshood of PRP (Treasurer); Mode Adenipebi of ZLP (Organising secretary); George Ashiru of ADC (Public relations officer); and Fadilat Adedoyin of ADP as the legal adviser.
