The police chief enjoined politicians to pursue their ambitions within the bounds of the law.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Abiodun Alabi, says the June 18 governorship elections in Ekiti State must be processed in accordance with the law.

Mr Alabi, an indigene of Ilawe-Ekiti gave the admonition Friday at a dinner organised in his honour by his kinsmen in the town.

The police chief enjoined politicians to pursue their ambitions within the bounds of the law and desist from any actions that could breed disaffection, bad blood and the possible breakdown of law and order.

“None of your ambitions should be greater than the peace and collective security of the people,” Mr Alabi stressed.

On the security situation in the country, Mr Alabi maintained that security is everybody’s business and should not be left for security agencies alone.

He stressed that it was unpatriotic for citizens to harbour criminals in their homes, urging them to support security agencies by providing useful information about criminal activities.

“If you harbour criminal and they are unleashing terror in your domain or territory, that means you are not being patriotic.

“If you shared information in good time for the security agencies to nail the criminal activity in the bud, it would be beneficial to all of us,“ he said.

He also applauded the security agencies for doing their best to ensure that they secure the country in order for the people to enjoy peace.

The police boss said that every individual had a role to play at ensuring that the country was secure by way of giving information and assisting with intelligence sharing.
