Magistrate, 20 others demoted for corruption in Adamawa; 11 sacked

A magistrate has been demoted in Adamawa for engaging in fraudulent activities. Also, 11 and 20 officials of the state’s judiciary were sacked and demoted respectively for presenting forged certificate to obtain their current positions.

Hindatu Lamorde, secretary to the the Adamawa Judicial Service Commission, announced the dismissal on Saturday via a statement.

“The commission approved the demotion of a magistrate to a registrar for involving in corruption,” said Mrs Lamorde.

“It also approved demotion for 20 staff for using fake certificates to obtain promotions and 11 others for presenting forged certificates to secure employment into state judiciary.”

She said the commission also approved the appointment of two deputy registrars for the High Court, one director, one deputy director and one acting deputy registrar for the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Other appointments include acting chief registrar and substantive deputy registrar for the Customary Court of Appeal.
